Diagnosis

Male is similar to N. cocytius and N. zambeziensis by (a) Hw 26-35 mm; (b) labrum all dark; (c) occiput at least partly dark, often with smooth border; not notched in middle, although often denticulate; (d) sides of thorax mainly pale; (e) humeral suture with broad dark stripe; (f) 11-17 Ax in Fw; (g) S3-7 each at most with isolated pale dorsal stripes; (h) lateral tooth of cerci usually prominent. However, differs by (1) ranging from N DRC to Gabon; (2) S4-6 at most with narrow pale basal rings; (3) S10 slightly longer than S9; (4) lateral tooth stands almost at midlength of cerci. Habitat description

Rivers in open areas in forest. Probably often with a soft (like muddy) bottom. From 300 to 700 m above sea level.
