Diagnosis
Male is similar to N. gorilla by (a) size, Hw 35-38 mm; (b) labrum black, at most with small basal spots; (c) at least postclypeus and often labrum with dark markings, often largely dark; (d) lower border of antefrons dark like postclypeus; (e) occiput green with narrow black border; (f) thorax with broad, (nearly) complete inter- and metapleural stripes; (g) antehumeral stripe distinct and complete; (h) postdorsal and antehumeral stripes well-defined, separate from each other and pale area of middorsal carina; (i) costa often dark. However, differs by (1) ranging from N DRC to Cameroon; (2) dorsum S2 largely green with 2 isolated black markings on or near apex; (3) Abd parallel-sided, S7-9 scarcely expanded, S8 longer than high or wide. Habitat description
Mostly headwaters, but also larger streams, shaded by forest. Often with coarse detritus and probably a sandy and/or soft (like muddy) bottom. From 0 to 1000 m above sea level, but possibly up to 1800.
